The LPF Schools embody the educational concepts introduced by Dr Maria Montessori based on her extensive research and observation of children as they move through their educational mile stones. Our belief that education must be an “aid to life” influences our work and our vision.

Our focus is on working with the natural human tendencies that once recognized and supported work towards naturally motivating the child to maximise their potential.

Our physical environment is aesthetically and practically organised to meet the specific need that allow mixed age peer learning, exploration, freedom and discipline

Mutual respect is the foundation of our philosophy. Our Intent is that all children are natural learners and only need to be inspired with a lifelong love for learning.

A highly dedicated and professional faculty work tirelessly to create a safe, secure and happy environment. With cosmic education as our guide , a rich curriculum brings separate disciplines together in studies of the physical universe, the world of nature and the human experience.

Preparing our children to excel in the Cambridge exams at the Advanced and Ordinary Levels, subjects like English, Literature, Mathematics, Science, Arts, and History are vital components of the curriculum but approached with an attitude of limitless possibilities.

THE YOUNG CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY (YCC)

Our reception group begins with a powerful young children’s community admitting children from fifteen months. This community is the cornerstone of our program. At two and half year, the members of the YCC (young children’s community) together with new admissions graduate into the very popular Montessori program.

This specially prepared environment caters to children in the first plane of development from two and a half till five years and their active “absorbent mind”. The four main areas of work are the exercises on practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language, and culture.

Practical life activities provide experiences in care of the person, environment, grace and courtesy.

Scientific sensorial material engages the child through study of the senses, grading and paring.

Language development happens thru the use of oral language opportunities with a multi sensorial phonics approach, to reading writing. Geography, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Arts and music are provided as cultural extensions of the sensorial and language activities.

Mathematics material provides a fascinating study of number placement and division leading the child from the concrete to abstract reasoning and problem solving.

ELEMENTARY

Our elementary program from grade one to six is a logical extension and continues to uphold the Montessori philosophy while preparing children to excel.

While focused on the extensive and challenging curriculum we are keenly aware of the “reasoning mind” that characterize the child from six to twelve years in response to the second development plane, we offer them the “great Lessons” that guide the child to examine the questions who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I going? This introduces them to the universal concept of cosmic education that enhances the core curriculum while developing competency, discipline, self-confidence and social awareness.

Necessary to this experiential student lead education is the meaningful “going out” that help students connect their lessons to real life experiences. These outings are planned by the students with minimal teacher supervision. Srilanka is blessed with a rich tapestry of cultural diversity of over 2000 years allowing extensive opportunities for investigation, exploration and discovery.

Cosmic education emphasizes the interdependency of all things and complements our commitment to Maria Montessori’s Peace Curriculum. Throughout our program, the curriculum has been modified to absorb the beautiful tradition of Srilanka, offering the children the opportunity to truly understand and practice the simple concept, Peace begins with me! Conflict resolution and an active awareness of family, community and environment is a vital part of our programme.
