La Petite Fleur Graduation – 2007
It began with Bernadine Anderson Congratulating the Graduates.
The students accepted the certificates that were presented to them by the 3rd year parents. The graduates sang the school song. The graduates were bid a fond farewell with the song ‘From This School’.
I am sure the children will remember their final goodbye and will always have fond memories of the school. Especially with the teacher’s who dedicated their time lovingly to nurture them. Though it is sad to see the children leave, we know they will make La Petite Fleur proud when they are in their new school environment.
A new school and a new life to begin…….the best was the fond farewell from La Petite Fleur, from their beloved teachers and friends.
What a wonderful way to leave La Petite Fleur.

Sinhala, Tamil New Year Celebrations – April 2008
A National Holiday Celebrating the Harvest Festival, Offering of the First Harvest to the Gods.
The boiling of the Milk is a tradition in the New Year. It is believed that the blessings are poured into your life the way the milk boils over and pours into the fire.
It all begins with the ending of the old year on the 13th of April. With the new Harvest the New Year is celebrated on the 14th of April.
The bird “Koha” sings away reminding us the arrival of the New Year.
Sri Lank is Blessed with Tradition.
There is a time to stop working and a time to begin for the New Year. Preparing of the milk rice, sweet cakes, lighting of the fire, partaking of food, exchanging of money (ganudenu) and rubbing of the oil on the head is done to an auspicious time.
We are taught the value of our Elders they are treated with reverence. We are taught the value of wisdom with age. Exchanging (ganudenu) currency with elders for a prosperous New Year continues year after year.
The young and the old participate in this celebration. The children enjoy the traditional games, tree swings, beating on the “Rabana” singing aurudu songs breaking the pot blind folded for candy and playing Pancha (a game with dice).
La Petite Fleur Celebrated the New Year on the 3rd of April according to all tradition. The children and the adults enjoyed the day.
