We are a  close knit school community, situated in a secure residential area in the suburbs of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In 1993, our school was set up with a belief in the incredible potential of the child and the desire to create a holistic school environment that would nurture and inspire this potential. La Petite Fleur Montessori House of Children follows the principles of Dr Maria Montessori and is dedicated to implement the Montessori method with the highest standard.

The Montessori school accommodates nearly 180 children with a maximum of 26 in one class. Aptly furnished classrooms which are bright and cheerful, in a well-resourced, purpose built environment, have mixed age groups of children between the ages of 2 ½ years to 5 ½ years, in keeping with the Montessori philosophy. This fosters the development of a variety of social and academic skills as they work with older and younger classmates under the guidance of their dedicated teachers. The Montessori school also offers an Extended Day Program for children of 4 years and over and a Special Education Program on an individual basis, by teachers trained abroad.

La Petite Fleur is proud to have pioneered the Toddler Program in Sri Lanka with its ‘Young Children’s Community’, which has children from the age of 18 months to 2 ½ years, at which age they will be transferred to the Montessori school.

The AMI qualified and well experienced faculty of 12 at La Petite Fleur, is guided by our Founder and Head of School, Mrs Bernadine Anderson, a qualified Montessorian herself, with a Diploma in Psychology and a Masters in Education from the University of Hartford, USA.

La Petite Fleur has its own scholarship programs, enrichment programs for children and parents, community outreach and cultural events that make our school a special place for everyone.

Together we have integrated a challenging Montessori education and a caring, responsible community, proving that ‘Montessori is a help to life’.
